I'm new around here, but have been lookng for a DW for a while now. I came across a beautiful DW 22 4" porkchop barrel. The gun is mint and I don't believe has ever been shot. It has the original box, Dan Wesson zippered case, the paper that it came wrapped in, the instruction booklet, and the tools are still sealed in their envelope. My dilemma is do I shoot it or keep it as a collector? I will try to get some pictures of it up. It is a Monson gun with a 5 didgit SN. It does have a slight turn line but most likely that is just from being "played" with over the past 30 years. What do you guys think? How about value?
Thanks,
Drew

to the . If you really have a 22 cal pork-chop it is one of a kind. DW didn't start building 22s until many years after the chops evolved into what we call a model 15-2. So either there is a mix-up or you have some form of custom gun or a prototype or something like that. We really need pics and what a mystery we have to unravel. Looking forward to the pics. Welcome again.

I am uploading pictures as we speak. There are two porkchop models on gunbroker, if I'm not mistaken. One is a 6" and one is an 8". Mine is a non vent. I went to the shop today to pick up the original box and he has a few more NIB for sale. I am going to pick these up next week. One is a porkchop vent, and the other is a full lug vent, both 4". Did I meantion these are all NIB? He also has several NIB barrels for sale. Supposedly he was one of the original distributors and now he is starting to sell some of these again. Mine has the optional Target rear sights with the white outline. The front site has a red/orange insert and still has excess plastic from the mold sticking up.

Well guys, I'm afraid I have DWAS. Went back to but a 6" barrel and was putting a down payment on the two NIB 22's and the gentleman asks me if I would be interested in a NIB Pistol Pack. He pulled it out and all the barrels are still wrapped in the paper. It is a 22 with a heavy vent. I put a down payment on it and he said he may be able to put together a .357 pistol pack for me. I will be sure to get pictues up when I pick it up in a week or so.
As a side note how much would you guys pay for a 715-2 VH8 in overall good condition with Pachmyer grips?
Thanks!

WOW! Sounds like you have found a honey hole for DW's. A 22 VH PP is a semi rare and highly coveted commodity. As far as a price for the 715 VH8. prices are real subjective to area and condition, but just my two cents worth. Less than $400 is a steal. $ 400 to $550 is going rate and any higher is high but you only go around once so if you really want it go for it. I realise this is not much help but enjoy life while you can as it is too short to not have some fun along the way.

Just from casual observation of GB and locval gun shows:
(all Monson)
15-2 (blued) $325 - $425
715(SS) $425 - $550
While really all that is needed is the gun, other parts can help the price
box
tool
belt buckle
patch
case (pistol pack)
soft case
extra grips
extra BAs
I have seen 15-2 on GB for $650 by some pawn shop that figures he "really" got something rare. I do not count those as legitimate values by people that follow these as commonly as some do here. Of course condiditon is king... all too often that real inexpensive gun is being sold due to a "botched trigger job". Even worn out bluing is an expensive fix (or can be). NIB suggests none such issues.
Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box
in that order.
