I'm planning to purchase my first Dan Wesson revolver because I've really enjoyed shooting friends' DW .44's and.357's over the years. After poking around the forum a bit I wasn't able to find the answer to my question, so please forgive if this was already answered.
The gun I'm eyeing is a stainless steel .445 Super Mag at a consignment shop. My question is, are the .44 mag barrels / barrel shrouds compatible with the .445 SuperMag? I haven't seen any information about barrels specific to the .445 SuperMag.
Also, this gun is a Norwich stamp with a RV4XXX s/n. I'm guessing it's a late 1990's or early 2000's manufacture. Is that a good way to go?
Thanks for taking the time to help out a future DW owner!

Welcome to the forum from PA. I do not yet have a 445 supermag but will try to answer your questions.
I THINK the barrels for a .44 magnum will interchange, the 445 is basically a longer length .44 cartridge. I am not 100% sure though. I am sure someone else will be along here who knows for sure.
The shrouds for a .44 magnum will not work on a 445 Supermag, the reason being that the 445 has a longer ejector rod, and the .44 shroud does not have a long enough slot for it. You can use 445 shrouds on a .44 mag though.
A Norwich Supermag is definitely a great way to go! IMO all Dan Wessons are great, I know the Norwich revolvers have a reputation for excellent fitting and machining.
Post up some if/when you get it!

Lonwolf is correct, you can use 44mag barrel tubes on a 445 but not the shrouds for the reasons mentioned. Sounds like a great gun, you'll love the 'THUMP' they make!
