I've ran with a S&W 317 for years and it was so light and fun to shoot and I could never ask for a better pistol to miss 8 shots with (inacurrate from the factory). My buddy (who got me into Dan wessons) finally sold me a 722 so I now have the luxury of accuracy. How bad would it be to modify my vh 4" to shave weight and what could I do to the gun itself? I also wanna get some lb grips to something smaller cause I don't need the bigger grips for the 22 (although they are amazing on my 7445).
I want a light weight 22 and my primary concern is that I don't wanna destroy a beautiful dw722 to get it, but I cannot have it both ways. This gun will be my trapping/hunting/plinking pistol and will be exposed to the most extreme conditions (to include rain, snow and 50 below)and although it will be on my chest it will experience much abuse on the trap line.
Perspective, opinions and suggestions welcomed.

Look for a standard shroud, doesn't have to be a 22 as all small frame shrouds will interchange. You should be able to find a 715 shroud easily enough.

If a man designed it, and a man built it, then a man can fix it.
