Well I'm one stop closer to completing my 44 project today (just waiting on my barrel now!), wanted to ask some of you large frame owners if you think the damage on this grip is merely cosmetic or chipping here is common/might get worse after repeated firing.
Also unclear on the buy/sell/trade etiquette on this forum, but if anyone needs a large frame Pachmyer grip, shoot me a PM!

Well unfortunately after about 20 rounds of 240 grain factory loads the grip did end up cracking. When I installed the grip I got it snug then gave it another 1/3 to 1/2 a turn. The screw wasn't loose when I swapped it back to the Pachmyer so I don't think the way I installed it was the problem. I'm happy I have a spare grip so I can keep shooting but I'm disappointed because I really really like the look of it with the walnut. Oh well, I'll just keep my eyes peeled on the secondary market. I'd love to get an LB Custom grip and send him these medallions to make me a traditional in walnut, but looks like he isn't taking orders currently.
My bad, sorry. One more bit of advice though. Snug then a further 1/3 to 1/2 turn is a no no. Nothing on a Dan Wesson should be over tightened. Snug is good. Not barrel nut, not grip screw, sideplate or front sight.
The good news is there is a world of grips out there on eBay. Just be patient and a reasonably priced grip will come along. There are many grips much nicer than yours. Some of the older walnut grips are much more durible.
