I have 357 maxium/supermag. I went to take the barrel off & the 357 tool didn't work. seems the lugs on the tool thats supposed to lock into the barrel are too short. I tried an aftermarket tool & the original 357 tool ,,,,,,,

any ideas ?

Did the tool come with the gun in a box?original tool? Maybe you are using a small frame tool. The model 40 uses a large frame tool with a 357 caliber guide. EWK makes one with interchangable guides for the different caliber. Are the lugs too short or are they not lining up with the slots?

Sounds like he may be using a 357 Mag tool on a 357 Supermag...maybe.
