I bought a 4 inch barrel for a 15-2 and I have a 14-2. The site sits a lot higher as I expected but I know some of you have a remedy for that. Can you fill me in? Thanks

Had a gunsmith put it on. What a difference compared to the 2 1/8 inch. Makes the gun much more accurate and fun. Thanks again
I love a 4 inch barrel assembly. It's my favorite all around barrel assembly on a 38/357 DW revolver.
Here's a picture of my fixed rear site 714 Dan Wesson, wearing it's 4 inch barrel assembly. In the picture it has a 715 shroud mounted, with an EWK Model 14 conversion front sight blade installed.
And here's a 6 shot group I fired last year with the 4 inch barrel assembly on the gun. I had just installed a brand new EWK stainless 4 inch barrel tube on the 714, and was using generic Winchester white box 38 special ammunition.
My fixed sight 714 is a keeper!
Someone else on the Dan Wesson forum mentioned that the Bianchi 7000 holster will fit a Dan Wesson 15-2 revolver with a 4 inch barrel assembly quite nicely. If I could remember who said it, I'd thank them profusely.
It's a nice looking and fitting inexpensive holster, with a secure retention snap. It turned out to be just what I was looking for.
You can get one easily from Amazon for around $30 bucks. With free shipping too, if you buy something else along with it (like a speed loader, or a speed strip) to get the price up to $35.

If you like nylon holsters more than leather ones, it's definitely something to keep in mind.

to answer your question, this is not normal. My question is, is this a 44mag or 357mag? 44 Mag will not have a 15 in the model. 15 is indicative to the 357.. Introduce yourself in the new member section and then if you can post some pics for us. We will help you figure out what is going on. I will say, generallly it only takes a good cleaning to get the wheel guns running again. remember your talking possibly 30 odd years in age. These guns were safe queens a lot of the time.. My guess is the bolt plunger spring is worn or broken or more likely there is dirt or dried lubricant in there that is impeding the function until pressure is put on it when you pull the trigger or cock the hammer. I am not an expert though. Cleaning a dan solves a host of problems, as Cecil pointed out.

How far away was the target Bullwolf?
I had the target set up a ways past 25 feet or so from the porch.
I don't normally shoot at paper, unless I have company come over. The majority of my shooting is done off my porch, at my metal silhouette gong.
It's exactly 53 yards from the porch, to the silhouette. (I've checked it with a laser range finder)
The silhouette target is just a re purposed piece of metal given to me by a good friend. I have no idea what it was originally intended for, but now it's a target. It happens to resemble the head and shoulder silhouette of a person.
Which is why I call it a "silhouette".
It rings nicely when hit, and you can easily hear the gong even while wearing hearing protection. I re-paint it when I'm done so I can see where my shots have impacted, and to keep it from rusting somewhat. I only use it for mild handgun/carbine cartridges though. Most rifle rounds will poke a hole right through it. I have welded up many holes in it over the years, so I have a pretty good idea what it will and won't stop now.
I have a brand new gong. It's a round piece of AR500 plate steel, that I really need to hang up at some point. I just haven't got around to doing so yet.
When one of my shooting buddies comes over, I'll sometimes set up a target stand, and paper targets to sight something new in between the porch and the silhouette. For the kids, I like to set up reactionary targets like clay birds, water jugs or balloons for them to break/pop around the same area. It makes things fun for them.
