I just got back from the range shooting my DW 41Mag, the nickel one from GA a few weeks ago. The gun functions fine but at 50-yards with the rear sight screwed down tight it still hits the top edge of the paper or higher with 210 loads of heavier. I tried some 170 grain loads and they were right on the money, I expected the lower hit point with those. What do you do to get it lower? I know there are different color front inserts, but to my knowledge they are all the same height.

Yes there are different height front sights in the traditional DW front sight profile, I have seen them in the past. Also, I had a similar problem with my 722 at 50', and found that a Millet rear sight allowed me to drop the POA/POI enough to work (I think I saw a Millet rear for Large Frame on Ebay recently that might still be active). No guarantee that it will do the same for you, but the Millet is IMHO a little nicer than a DW rear, especially the White Bar/White Outline.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I recently got a fairly tall front DW type Millett blade. sight that may be too tall for anything I need it for, if so I'll let you know
