Just picked up this beauty, it was advertised as a stainless gun but is in fact a brushed nickel 14 porkchop in original box with all factory paperwork including warranty card, letter from the company and a paper warning not to use on a 15 due to sight heights. Gun is very nice and lockup tight. I find it odd that it has a blued trigger and hammer as well as a blue barrel tube. All in all a very nice condition gun. And now the

Factory finish, its marked on the box label. Its very faded but there is an 'X' in the place where nickel is indicated. I've got other boxes for some 14/15 porkchops and there is an option of nickel. I'm rather excited to have this one.
Do those look like 'Powerwood' grips? I think they maybe but they look too much like real wood. I think someone may have put on walnut grips and ditched the Powerwood, but I'm having a tough time being certain.

Very nice Chris!
All factory nickel Dans that I have seen have blued triggers, hammers and barrels. Lots of times aftermarket nickel jobs have all the parts nickel. The blued parts make a nice contrast I think.
The grip looks walnut to me too, I wonder if a nickel gun always got a higher quality grip than powerwood?

When I had my 15-2 done in nickel, this is what I did. Not trying to copy the factory work, I just thought that was the way it should be.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

What a cool find, way to go! Looks like it's in really nice shape, too.
I agree, the grip looks like walnut. The medallions appear to be a set of those aftermarket ones, though.

I just noticed that under the crane on the frame its stamped 'Mod 14-M' Wonder what that means? I have a 15 porkchop marked 'Mod 15-B' and that gun is blued, does B mean blue, if so, what does M mean?

Just guessing here, maybe matte finish? Is there a such thing as matte Nickel? I don't know.
Sure is. It's how you finish the underlying metal that determines the look. Instead of matte let's call it Satin.

Is this why the M is present, stamped Mod. 14-M ?
