i hear there are other guns out there that share this serial number. One is exact to mine ESD-xx. Anyone have any info on these? It's a model 15-2 from Monson
I believe that it would not be (legally) possible for two guns from the same manufacturer to be serial numbered identically. Given that Dan Wesson went through changes in ownership, manufacturing locations, and Corporate names, maybe this S/N exists on two DW's?
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

John, I saw in another thread where you heard ESD might stand for "Eastern Sportsmen Division". Can you give any more info on where you may have heard that? It seems unlikely that there were enough individuals with the initials ESD ordering Dan Wessons with custom serial numbers to justify a 2-digit suffix.
I also saw in another thread that you may have the same serial number as member Chasf. Is there any chance that you purchased his revolver sometime after February 5th of this year?

ESD = "Someplace" Sheriff's Department ?
If we had any other info on the history of this revolver, maybe we could look into this idea. I think it would probably have at least one more initial in the prefix if this were the case. For example, ECSD indicating Erie County or Elk County sheriff's departments or EBRPSD for something like East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Department.

I would bet you purchased the revolver Chasf owned. Since you mentioned it, I did some sleuthing on another forum to see that ESD-01 may have been some type of "Eastern Sportsman" 20th anniversary edition. This is pure speculation, but I wonder if there were 20 to 99 of these 15-2's stamped with the ESD prefix for the 20th Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Harrisburg in 1975. Are you sure the "D" isn't an "O"? (haha)
I hope someone else chimes in with more information on these. You're right that the info that turns up is pretty interesting!
