If you guys get tired of my stupid questions, just say so and I will shut up. I'm in learning mode with so many items these days I can't keep up with the new stuff.
I bought a EWK muzzle break wrench from Eric (owner and member here) to go with my muzzle break and barrel nut wrench I got from him. Now this is when I feel dumb. I can't figure out how to use the muzzle break wrench. It is about 1" x 3" and has a 1/4" U shaped slot on one end.
Now here's what I did:
I tightened the barrel to .005 by hand, I slide on the shroud.
I removed the cover of the muzzle break and screwed the interior baffle onto the barrel.
The interior baffle hand tightened on the shroud and the gap stayed at .005.
I placed on the muzzle break cover and tightened the nut to attach the muzzle break cover over the muzzle baffle.
It looks good. It feels tight. The gap stays at .005 for all six cylinders.
Where did I go wrong? Should I have done it in a different order or with tools to tighten?

I looked all over for instructions and found none. I can always call Eric at EWK, but he is doing us all a great service and I hate to interrupt him and eat his time.

Here is the link to the instructions. If you still have questions call him - it's all part of customer service for any business.

thanks Harley,
Good instructions right at EWK. Don't know how I missed them. And thanks for being so tactful and not pointing out what boneheads can't see right in front of them.
I'm still having a ball with the DW SuperMags. This muzzle break is just one more neat item in the toy box.

OK, so I had it right the whole time. I just hand tightened the interior baffle instead of using the muzzle break wrench.
I took it apart again and estimated the difference in torque between using the wrench and doing a hand tightening. There wasn't much difference which raises one of my remaining big questions:
How tight should I get the muzzle break baffle and how tight should I get the regular barrel assembly nut?
Do I assume they tighten themselves when heated through firing or do I assume that the recoil and G forces will loosen them over time? I will monitor during my shooting, but I would love to have the benefit of some experience out there.
I don't know a way to measure torque pounds because I don't know how to get a barrel wrench attached to the end of a torque wrench. Because of the T design of the barrel wrench, and the short throw of the two arms, I assume that not much torque is applied. I gave mine the old soft grunt touch, as opposed to using a pipe extension on one arm of the T.
Can you describe your touch when tightening?

Harly is right, don't be afraid to get in touch if you have any questions!
You must have strong hands to get the expansion chamber/interior baffles tight enough that way! There is nothing wrong to doing it that way if you can it tight enough.
As far as tightness, Charger Fan is right. If anything start at the lower end of what you think it should be-with the brakes/or just using the stock barrel nuts, if the barrel assembly is coming loose during shooting, you likely need to tighten 'er up more. If everything is staying snug, you're good.
