Was just over at EWK's site looking at their fiber optic sights. I really like the idea of them, but wanted first-hand opinions of them.
I would be putting it on a 3" 715, so take that into consideration. Gun will be used mostly for range, but carry is not out of the question (though minimal).
And yes, pics are more than welcome. Thanks!

I have the red one & I would reccomend one with a couple of very minor comments.
The sight picture is excellent, but I discovered I needed a little more rear sight height to get a good zero as compared to the original blade. I liked it enough that went so far as to add a green fiber optic rear so I now have an illuminated green/red/green sight picture.
For range work I can't think of a better setup, but for carry, particularly in a synthetic holster the squarer & ribbed blade is a bit "grabbier" than the original ramp.
Neither should put you off, but it is something to be aware of. Would I buy another, yes!

Thanks allot guys, I think I may buy one just for the hell of it, not like they are 50 bucks.
At the same time, I'll prolly grab one of the small parts kits (with all the springs & pins), just to have for when I eventually tear down my 715.
I was thinking about the green. i read a few forums about red vs green fiber optics, and the general consensis was that the green glows brighter in both low and bright light. I will be shooting my DW tonight (has the red steel blade in it) and I will see how I like the red.
Thanks again!

mister c it looks like you added green rear to your frame how is it mounted who made it?walt
Yes I did add a fiber-optic rear, but it was added to the existing sight by *ahem* "borrowing" the fiber optic tubes & the clamp from a sight I bought.
I was trying to add a little height to the rear sight because I was using a lot of elevation to get a good zero, so what I did was to simply find a sight that had the fiber optics in a seperate removable clamp & strip the sight to get just the parts I needed.
Once that was done I opened up the existing rear sight blade notch enough to allow me to insert the whole sub-assembly & simply epoxied the replacment in place. I'm ashamed to admit I have no memory of who'se sight I grave-robbed to get the parts, but any one with a seperate holder & tubes should work pretty well.

I mainly shoot at indoor ranges and if you have one, like my normal range, they have low lighting at the firing lines. The green sight doesn't pick up enough light to really work. Now, once you have more light it is fantastic.
Thats true, you do need some light overhead for them to work well. The range I shoot at is outdoor, but "no blue sky", so the firing line is covered on the back, sides & top. There is also a heavy front baffling system so its almost indoor.
Even then there is enough light for the sight to be usable so I think the range has to be almost black to prevent the fiber optics from being good to use.

That is really cool on the rear fiber optic sight mister c!
FWIW, There are two generations of the fiber optic front sights I have made. Gen 1 was slightly higher than the current Gen 2 fiber optics.
Gen2 is slightly lower than the factory front sights (standard height)
More a problem there seems to be variations in shroud height/barrel location from Dan Wesson. There have been a couple Dans where there have been a huge difference between my shroud and the factory shroud on the gun. Yet on a normal run of the mill Dan that same shroud fits perfect. Fortunately these "oddball" Dans that are so bad seem few and far between.
