Just completely disassembled and cleaned a 15-2VH. Had a bit a of a problem getting faceplate back on (very close tolerances). No problem putting two screws back in, but when cocked and relieved hammer, trigger and hammer seemed to disengage. Took apart and reassembled three times with same result. On fourth attempt, as i unscrewed the top (small) screw, I noticed hammer and trigger released and all appeared well. Almost as if screw were too long (had not tightened to the extreme).
Two questions: 1) has anyone else had this happen and how did you resolve and 2) does it mean I have something that needs adjusting or have not replaced correctly?
Any thoughts appreciated...will take to smith if necessary, just trying to avoid the 50 mile round trip.
Thanks

The lockwork is held in place by the sideplate and rubs against the sideplate at various spots. If the individual parts are not in the correct position they may have excessive pressure on the plate. And don't use excessive torque on the screws. Including the barrel nut. Keep trying and it will probably be fine. Make sure the trigger return spring is on the ledge of the trigger and held there when the sideplate goes on.
DO NOT TAKE IT TO A SMITH. IMHO most Smiths are dangerous to a Dan. They are so used to Smiths they can mess up your Dan. Post pictures if you can and keep working with members. If it is still a problem, send it to Dan Wesson for repair.

Hello BB,
If the gun worked properly before you cleaned it, there really isnt anything that would need to be " adjusted". I suggest that you operate the gun with the side plate off to see if your reassembly is correct. Kind of hold the pieces down with your left hand while working thee action...wear safety glasses just in case. I agree with Old Dawgs thoughts on the trigger return spring may be dropping off the groove. Good Luck

Also the hand spring should be in a groove and not around the hand. I have seen this done many times. Good luck.LB
thanks, got that covered. I think the culprit is the cylinder hand installation
