I have seen several postings on the 2 1/2" Wesson 44 mag "fixed barrel" revolvers. There were two batches of these made. The first was with standard serial numbers and either 25 or 50 were produced. The second batch had a gold plated trigger and a special serial number with the letter prefix "SDI". 50 were made.

I have serial number "1".

They are indeed rare. They were made for one distributor and as far as I know they were not supplied to anyone else. One was presented to the actor Steven Segal.

Welcome to the DWF- that's some interesting information on the Palmer FBs- how did you come about finding that out?

I was the owner of the distributing company. I requested the special configuration.

I will post a photo as soon as I have time.

I'd like to see some photos, too. 🙂  And I'd like to know the significance of the "SDI" in the s/n.

Uploaded photo. Date stamp is obviously wrong. The "SDI" was the name of my company. I saw one or two of these with "regular" trigger and serial numbers on this forum. They are certainly rare.

Perhaps one or a few will be available soon? Did you ever have an Gold Series 15-2s?  Did you sell any? I can't find much info on them.

Very cool rarety.  I am always interested in the odd revolvers out there.  Seems like there were alot of special one or two off items produced, they just keep showing up every so often wink

THis was all over on the Dan Wesson Revolvers Facebook page. He was asking value and I looked at it the serial number is not #1 correct? I look at the box tag and it says SD 10001 so i'm not sure. If the gun is a #1 serial number that would add value. the Steven Segal story is nice but unless you have the actual gun he owned and some promenade to go with it I don't think the Segal story helps the value much. I put value around $1000 to $1400 depending id the serial number is #1 what do you all think?

Wow, very interesting.  Thanks for giving the back story on this.

so if that's true it will be worth more to the high side.  Remember it's not a real #1 serial number because it's a special run of guns for a specific buyer. Still a fixed barrel 44 magnum now I have seen very few 2.5 inch VH barrels on the fixed 44 magnums for good reason the recoil. I guess there was a reason they never sold 2.5 inch barrels for large frame Dans back in the day. Yes I know you can now buy them thru CZ but they were not in the 44 mag pistol pacs!

I disagree. This factory configuration is 50 in the world, forever and all time.

The backstory is interesting, but does not add value. Being extremely limited does.

The distributor TALO has been doing limited factory configuration guns for years.
