Fiber optic front sight blades for the DW revolvers. I got to doing some research and my mind is working. Laugh I can't seem to find a picture of the standard stock one. Does anyone have a picture of one? Please, I'm dying here to get a good look of what they look like! poke

Thanks so much!!!

Here's a not great picture of one mounted:

It's around here somewhere, I'll try to get a better picture for you. As I recall, it was not really very functional, but red would not have been my best choice. I always run green in my HiViz FO's

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks Steve! That's what I thought I recalled reading, the DW fo's blades don't function that well. Thinking about a design and I was curious to see what the stock blades looked like. Thanks again, pic helps a bunch!

I tried some of them a long time ago--they were not as near as bright as other brands.  Not sure if it was the material they were using, or if the slotted base wasn't letting enough light through.

Haven't tried a FO yet but looking forward to seeing what you produce. BTW I see the 15 to 14 conversion sight blade on GB and think that is a long needed option. Keep the goodies coming.Smile

I did not know these were ever made.. but I really do want/need them... my eyes aint what they use to be.. and something like this could help.

Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box

in that order.

I thought I had read that the 14 front sight blade was interchangable with a S & W blade? I don't remember which model though. I also would be interested if anyone can find a product number.

The problem with the DW FO sight is that so much of the fiber optic element is covered that it cannot collect much light. This design from hiViz works much better:

http://www.hivizsights.com/Pistol-Sights-C3.aspx

The set for my Buckmark has 3 different diameter light pipes in each of red and green.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Anybody know which model sight fits the model 14? Nobody I can find carries specific DW sights. Any help is appreciated.

Model 14 sights are held in with a pin pressed into a blind hole.  Generally they are not replaceable.  If you really want to replace it, you need to drill a hole in the opposite side of the shroud for the pin to pass through.

I have to agree, Hi-viz are great. I use them exclusively on my shotguns.  Here's some photographs to help out.  Even the little hi-vis is better than the OEM DW FO Sight. I think the trick is leaving a rounded portion hang out on the far end in order to gather light into the "light pipe":

I agree, also the HiViz has a nice large cone/funnel shape on the sighting end that really stands out

Ron, Thanks for the picture! The dimensions, are those the diameter of the fiber optic pieces?

Eric,

They are the diameter of the pipe portion of the HiViz, not the flared end, and the diameter of the DW FO.  Of course its not a swiss made caliper that I use; its a Frankford Arsonal (almost as good, eh?).

I can send them to you, if you want to timker w/ them.  The only catch is- I deploy in about a month and one half.

Thanks Ron! Got another memember sending me a DW F.O. blade so I can check it out first hand, that coupled with the dimesions you got should leave us in great shape. I think the calipers should do the trick, they can't be that much off. lol2
