The firing pin on one of my DW revolvers will not retract after firing and it hangs up the rotation and opening of the cylinder. I've replaced the firing pin and spring and the problem persists. I can't find any burrs which might be causing this when I explore the opening with a q-tip. If anyone has an idea as to what is causing this I would appreciate the help. The problem occurs with the cylinder loaded or empty.

Hi 'cane',
No expert here but check the connector (transfer bar). Does it drop after releasing the trigger? The connector, hand, and hand spring (part numbers 38, 43, and 44) are interconnected and could cause this kind of problem. It can be a pia to get the connector back in the right place after dis-assembly, gotta hold your mouth just right.
With the crane open, cylinder out, cock gun and note hand and connector rising, the hand would rotate the cylinder. Actuate trigger and slowly allow hammer to contact connector, contacting firing pin. Note that pin extrudes. Release trigger and note that hand and connector falls and firing pin retracts. This is the way it should work.
You might also check the clearance around the hole the pin goes through. I had a Contender that had the pin binding and it was buildup that was causing the pin to bind in the opening. I polished the opening with a diamond dremmel bit; light touch and checked for smoothness of movement, been working great ever since.

I agree with Robert.
Here's a quick way to do that: Check the hole by marking the original firing pin (white out or something removable) so they don't get mixed up, then swap it with the firing pin from one of your other guns (if it's the same model).
If the other firing pin binds, it's the hole - if not, it's the firing pin. Pretty handy having a spare gun!
Good luck and keep us posted.
