I have wanted one of these DW revolvers for years so I could have a defensive handgun and a longer target revolver. Just picked up a model 715-2v???(I think that is the model) and I already love it and havn't had a chance to shoot it. Got a 2.5" and 6" barrel with the handgun for $340.00. Was it a good deal or not? Any pointers or tips appreciated......
yeah........well......

Hello Vantoo.
Let me be the first to say to the DWF. I would say you found a good deal on your 715- it is a stainless model, correct?
Do you have your 715 and haven't shot it or was this a purchase that you haven't received yet? You better get those pictures up before these guys start hounding you about it. If you want to post pics and aren't sure how, just follow the directions in the FAQ on the right side of the page
Anyway, welcome and enjoy your stay. There are lots of good guys on this forum and if you ever have a question, feel free to ask.

Vantoo.
If it's a blue gun the model is either 15 or 15-2 depending on when it was made and some details which I can't remember right this minute. If the gun is stainless, the model is 715.
If the barrels have a ventilated rib the barrel descriptions are BA715V6 and BA715V2.5
However, if they also have the full length heavy underlug, the barrel numbers are BA715VH6 and BA715VH2.5. The BA stands for barrel assembly.
So, when your gun has the 6 inch barrel on it (assuming it's a heavy) then the gun description (assuming stainless) is 715VH6.
I hope that's not confusing. There is a wealth of DW information here, and many very knowledgeable people.
At $340.00, it borders on if it's in excellent condition.
Pointers? DWAS is about to bite you, BIG time. (See acronym list on the right.)
We're looking forward to some really .

That's a very nice 715 you have there Vantoo. From what I can tell, you got a very nice deal on that firearm. Looking forward to a range report after you get her to the range. Congrats on your score!

Hey Vantoo to the DWF. Good to have you and that fine looking 715 on board. Take a look on the Archive tab under files. We have a stack of factory info / brochures that will fill in a lot of the blanks on model designations and what the factory used to offer (so what else is available in the used market).
We're looking forward to more pics and a range report!!

Aboard, great looking DW. That price is excellent, congrats!
BTW Steve, that's a 2 & 6V he's got there…
You know, when I go back and edit my post, you're going to look VERY silly
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
