First, let me say hello. This is my first post on this forum. I own three DW semi's and to say they are great guns would be understated. This is my first DW revovlver. I went to my local lgs this morning and found it in the used gun case. The sales ticket only said, 'Dan Wesson 357'. I looked for markings but couldn't find any at all. It was made in Monson and the medallions on the stocks are marked 'DWA' (Dan Wesson Arms?). From lurking on this sight, I figure it is a mod 15-2. Can't wait to take it to the range...if I can find ammo for it.

Nice, welcome to the revolter side!  Here's a great starting point: https://www.danwessonforum.com/archive/history/dan-wesson-company-history/

Your 15-2 looks well kept.

Regards,

Ron

Nice 15-2 you found!  What model DW 1911's do you have?  We like cool-pics

Ordy, you've got to love the blue of the 15-2. Looks like a great piece. Target grip with a red front leaf with a four inch is a great set up. Good luck with the ammo. Hope you check in with the 1911 section. Most of the activity here is revolver but this is the best forum on the net either way. EWK has the items you need to keep your piece running tight.

Okay, you have a model 15-2 4VH (4"vent heavy shroud .357Magnum).

I can't see your s/n in the pics, but judging from the grip medallion style, I would estimate it to have been built in the '78-early 80's range. Looking at the "Serial Number Registry" link to the right of this screen may help to clear that up for you.wink

Thanks for the replys guys. The serial # puts it right in at late 70's as charger fan said. I have been a DW lover for quite a while. The fit, finish and quality is, in my mind, the equal to many custom guns. My first was a pointman7 followed a year or so later by a Guardian and my latest is a CCO. I had a bit of a hicup with the Guardian and had to send it in for work. The customer service was outstanding. I'm suprised DW doesn't do much advertising. I don't think I've ever seen an ad in any of the gun rags. I guess word of mouth is enough. Lonwolf suggested I show off my 1911's so here goes..

Nice collection of DW 1911's!drool  I really like those grips on the CCO and Guardian.  How does the accuracy of the CCO compare to the PM7?

Scorpio..With adjustable sights, you can tweak the pointman pretty much to poa. The CCO has a 6 o'clock hold and is as accurate as I could want. All of this is assuming I do my part. The one thing I would change on the CCO is the chain link pattern on the front and back strap. It wants to twist in my hand, especially if there's the least bit of oil on my hands or the gun itself. I much prefer dpi checkering. I changed out the grips for Houge wrap around finger groove wooden grips and the problem was solved.
