Well yesterday my wife and I went to the range. She wanted to try out her anniversary present (Kimber Team Match II, 9mm) even though our anniversary isn't until the 2nd.
Of course, her 715 VH8 always goes to the range with us as does the 722M VH8. Then I chose to take the 732 VH6 instead of one of my big guns, because we haven't had a chance to try it out yet.
It turned out to be a really nice shooter as far as we could tell. It was very accurate with very light recoil. However, I'm not sure the recoil wasn't too light. By that I mean that proper ammo would probably have more recoil. Why do I say that?
Well, instead of a flash coming from the space between the cylinder and the barrel, we got a very dirty blast of smoke and powder. I don't think it was burning all the powder in the cartridge. Our hands were covered with the stuff. It was the only ammo I could find. It was un-jacketed which I don't like, and it was a brand I've never heard of, Ultramax.
I will shoot the other 50 which will give me 100 cases in addition to the other 100 cases I was able to buy. I also have 200 XTP's in 85gr. Now all I need is about $2k worth of loading gear and I'll be all set.

Ultramax like you see in the lower pic here: https://www.danwessonforum.com/models-2/large-frame/model-745
is a cowboy load and very dirty also. Cowboy loads are usually low velocity, low power loads for cowboy competition that does not require penetration. Someone please chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.
Happyness is a Hot DW and a pile of used brass!!! Rich

Yep, Mox is right, if you shot an unjacketed bullet it was a cowboy load.
Also Ultramax is a reloaded ammo, factory reloads but reloads non the
less. I tried one box of the jacketed stuff years ago, that was enough
for me. Google around and you will find many more nay's that yea's.

Zoommb,
I told you how to avoid this problem... Send the brass and bullets to me and I'll make some for you . The bullets from Hornady are again available. WW231 does do a nice job also. Great report as well.
Now the daunting question? When is the 7414 range day going to occur?
