I'm trying to fit a bolt to my Dan Wesson 744 right now, and I was wondering, when should the bolt pop up into place? Currently, it seems to pop up right as the cylinder is perfectly aligned with the bolt, and sometimes if the cylinder is rotating too quickly, this causes the bolt to miss the locking slot completely. Should the bolt pop into the ramp preceding the slot, and if so, how far before the slot should it pop up?
Also, where on the bolt should I stone to adjust the timing so that it pops up earlier?

Hey , just a little advice from a no vice. DONT stone anything to much !!! sharp edges, corners, and flats are ok to keep them from cracking or fracturing but too much n oops . the bolt should have tension on it at all times, thats why there are drag marks noticeable on the cylinder in most cases. check the bolt spring, that it has tenision n feels good, not desprung.IE- watch as the cyl. as it rotates that there is verry little light if any between the bolt n cyl. Your timing for the cyl. is mostly compiled from-the hand spring and the hand working in conjunction with all the other parts as trigger or hammer are pulled. sounds like the bolt spring may need to be tweaked or replaced for good positive tension.
LIFE = WHAT A LONG ... STRANGE TRIP ITs BEEN N WITH A TOUCH OF GRAY ...WOW
