I'm not certain what fitting is involved- I can't think of any. If you have, or know someone who has a Curio & Relics (collectors) license, they'll ship parts annotated as factory install. I've done that on a few occasions.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Thank you, Ron. I just got a response from Priscilla stating that it had to ship to an FFL. That's no problem… I drive by my local gun shop twice per day. In fact, I'm stopping there today to give one of the guys a custom sling swivel I made for one of his M14s.
I'm not worried about fitting one, heck, I'll take cutting tools to nearly anything I can get my hands on. It just seemed odd with the recent advent of standardized parts...
Cheers,
John

Something you should be aware of is that NY guns used a hexagon shaped rod and monson/palmer were round with a groove cut in them so you will need a cylinder from a NY gun or change to your old rod.
Ah, good to know. Thanks. I'll ask Priscilla about this. From your statement I assume the rods are interchangeable, correct? Mine is a Monson gun.

Yes, you should be able to change your rod old rod out with a new extractor star from NY. When fitting the new extractor be aware that the thickness of that helps determine headspace.
