1995 Guns and Ammo Article - Shoot, thanks for providing us the article!
Guys above is a photo from the article showing a couple of fixed barrel models. Here are the two things I find most interesting about the photo.
1) The shrouds are rounded out past the ejector rod.
2) The scope base on the blued gun is actually part of the shroud.
I have never seen either of these configurations! But all I can say is I want both!
Eric (EWK_Stuff) here's a couple of ideas for you...

I dunno...I'm taking this quote as meaning that it's a separate piece, just because he mentions the Burris name.
"The scoped Hunter has no open sights but includes a Burris base and rings mounted on the top rib"
Man, the FB plot really thickens with this article! Very, very interesting stuff, especially the caliber range....41, .44, .357SM, .445SM.
So this article was printed in March 1995, and I assume was written around January of that year. Before the end of 1995, Palmer was out of business...so I wonder how many of these were actually made? The author mentions that Bob Talbot said these two were prototype guns. I wonder if these two guns were part of only a small few that were actually finished?
The part about there being a laser-engraved animal on the left side of the frame, for different calibers sounds pretty neat. But the author says that he only saw the artwork renditions for those...I wonder if any of those were actually done on guns? Sounds as though these Hunter FB's may just be another "holy grail" model of DW!
I like that little nugget at the end, about the .414SM coming along soon.
Thanks a ton for scanning that article, Shoot. And 100 foot pounds... ...good luck getting one of those apart!
According to the article the scope mount is a Burris but it sure does look like its integrated! According to the article 41 mag, 44 mag, 357 SuperMag and 445 SuperMag were going to be ordered with a 414 SuperMag in the works.
Wonder how many were ever made? I agree with Wayne that blued model is very cool!

Edit: CF you beat me to punch. When I posted the picture and article link I hadn't had time to read it yet!

Okay, its Jody's fault I'm on here and I'm not working.
I also agree that the scope mount isn't built into the shroud. If you look closely to the rear of the shroud, you can see what looks like a small land towards the rear of the shroud. Its hard to see, maybe its me dreaming up things.
I think its very interesting how the fixed shroud design in this article is the same as the regular Dan's aside from the super tight nut and of course very cool shroud design. Also interesting how they attempted a "fixed" shroud with what sounds like a one way nut...
Okay what do you guys want with this scope mount? The full length picatinny is on the list, but maybe we need to do is a plain one like this one...I really like the look of this one, I'm not sure how good a picatinny would look there in its place. Any ideas on what we could do for a plain scope mount like this one? I took a quick look on Burris' website, but didn't see anything like this one...

My vote is for you to do the type listed in the picture above before doing one with a full length rail.
I would want mine without the vented rib as well which should make it much easier to make I would imagine!
So now get back to work!
I just noticed that the front site is forward of the vents as well. I like that much better than the site being behind the vents.
