I recently aqquired a 6" fixed bbl DW 357 mag. Ive never seen one. Ive talked to guys with more experience than me who hadnt seen one before either. Mine is made in Palmer Mass. Are these rare? What kind of value do they have? Gun store said it was worth $200 and offered me $125. I could barely control my laughter. Ive seen some on gunbroker pushing $1000. Just wondered where mine fell. No marks on pistol other than turn ring on cylinder. Came with Pachmayr presentation grips. My buddy gave me the wood grips. Any help is appreciated.

That would best be described as a 15-2 6 FB. The two prices you quoted are extremes. While the FB guns are much less common, $1000 is nuts, except perhaps NIB unfired with all paperwork intact, and even then you need to find very highly motivated (foolish) buyer. I don't follow auction prices very closely, my guess would be $400-550 depending on condition.

Welcome to the Forum.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks for the reply. the 1000 gun was a stainless ported fixed barrel in box. I knew it was an extreme and mine probably fell in the middle somewhere.

Yes,that one was a WAY different item, $1000 not so surprising there

Welcome to the forum. As Steve said, the fixed barrel pistols are much less common than the removable barrel ones. I believe they were only made at the Palmer plant in the early/mid 90s. Your Dan looks like it's in very nice shape, I would agree with Steve's price range.

Fixed barrel DW's are far less common than their removable barrel brothers, but usually don't command "unobtanium" type prices. I also agree with Steve's price estimate.

Greetings

Have never held one but saw one rotate through GB about a year ago.

Cannot say I would have much interest in one beyond curiosity.

That does look nice, a bit too pricey though IMO.  I wonder who blued it; hotbluer perhaps?

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

That's probably a factory bluing. My 15-2 3" FB is one of the shiniest blued DW's I own, they did a really good job in the Palmer plant.

That is a good price for 44M. That will make some one a very nice gun.
