I saw a post on ARFCOM that seems to show a fixed barrel SS .357 Dan Wesson revolver. There was some discussion about it possibly being a Palmer pistol, some kind of a low price compromise done in the early 90's. Anyone ever hear of this?

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Dan Wesson did make some fixed barrel versions and I believe it was during the Palmer years. I have not personally seen personally seen one of these but there was some discussion about them a while back.
Here is the thread from back in April.

I have a Model 44 Fixed Barrel I picked up right about when Palmer production ended. It has a 5″ (not a 4 or 6) barrel on it. I'll try to take some pics.
NVG- we have traded some posts on the ARFCOM Revolver thread. Glad to see you made it here. I know you have a few DW's, can you get some pix up?

Yes the FB Model 44 is a Palmer gun. Serial number is 44B0020XX. When I bought it it was the only one my gun shop could find in stock. Again, this was right when Palmer production was shutting down. It came stock with the Hogue grips, which I believe was standard for the fixed barrel models.
The same revolver is on the cover of Wrongness, Wisdom, and Wilderness. The author was one of my college professors and borrowed it for the photo shoot.

Waldo, you should take your camera in to look with you, next time you go. hehe
A fixed barrel sounds like a gun that should definitely be in the collection of a seriously devoted DW collector…like Jody, for example. LOL!
…Or me, in another dozen or so years.
I looked at the gun again today and made an offer of an even swap for my S&W 686 PP that is LNIB and the guy would not even make a counter offer and said he was going to list it on the internet. I did offer $400 cash one time for the gun, and didn't get a counter offer then either.
What is funny is the tag on it says it is a 740, but it is not a SS 357 SM for sure, I assume that it is or was called a model 15 still. It is not a V model, just had the heavy under lug that tapppers up to the front of the barrel.
Anyway I went to a buddy's shop and traded the 686 off for a rifle I have been wanting for some time.
