Fixed barrels are a tough find...I believe they were only offered in 357 mag and 44 mag. I have seen them in blue, stainless and chrome (although the chrome might not have been factory. Some are found with compensated barrels.
Good luck in adding more to your collection!

It is indeed a mighty fine looking pistol...and we now know of three calibers with fixed barrels. I wonder if there are any others lurking out there.
I think I remember reading that the fixed barrels are all Palmer era pistols...is that factual? Could they have produced fixed barrels in all the calibers they manufactured?

Actually, not factual, sort of.
Very early on DW was identified as an authorized choice for NYPD, in .38 Special and with a non removable (fixed) barrel. Colt and S&W were also authorized. There were some DW's issued, there is some discussion buried pretty deeply on DWF about this.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

It is hard to know absolutely about many things Dan Wesson. The line between Monson and Palmer seems to be particularly blurred. I have a Monson Gold Series that was supposed to be a Palmer innovation. I also have a 32-20 with Monson frame and Palmer shroud that I believe was shipped that way. It is not the first like that I have seen. There is a 32-20 just like that on Gunbroker right now. I suspect the frames were in inventory when the switch happened. I also have two supposed fixed barrel style BAs, a 3" and a 6" that are unused and obviously never mounted on a fixed barrel gun. The slender cases with blue foam and swiveling latches were also used both for late Monson and Palmer.

I have one of those 38 special's
Exactly, and me too.
I have a D11 chambered in .38Spl, with a fixed barrel configuration. I apologize better pics were cyber hacked a while back, I will try to post better ones soon. 🙂 My D11 fixed barrel is in the upper row of this Pac, the more common W12 is his brother, shown in the lower half...
The early D11 fixed barrel nut...
Versus the common removable nut found on the interchangeable barrels-n-shrouds...

I had no idea that DW was producing fixed barrel guns so early even in the "porkchop" era, or that a 38, let alone a 41 were both made fixed?! Never stop learning about this company. Also agree with Ole Dog, when the move went down to Palmer, it seems a lot of pre produced stock frames went along with the move to be turned into whatever they could sell after production was restarted. I have seen some odd barrel/frame combinations that don't seem right, but the items at times came from sworn one owner guns and I believe them. Great pics and great conversation folks. Much obliged for the info. Oh, and a very Merry Christmas to all!

I have a mint full lug blued model 15 357 mag! my understanding is that they were ONLY produced in the Palmer Mass factory for a limited number of years. i would think that because they are much rarer than the change barrels they will eventually command a higher premium,..but who knows.
