I have no etch on my 44 yet, I run Hornady FTX 225 grn and Wolf Gold
240 grn ammo. The FTX is 1400 velocity and almost 1000 ft. lb. energy.

The 240 grn load I use is the Hornady. I like that load, get good groups and is a pleasure to shoot. The bear load I tried is Buffalo Bore:

I don't think the FXT or JHP would penetrate a bear's skull or bones, that's why I am looking at HC bullets.
