Share this on another forum and they suggested I share it here too.
So I was over visiting with some family and talking about my late grandpa (passed in 87) and how he loved his guns. So then my aunt says well hey I think I have an old gun case of grandpas that is locked but I think it's empty and the keys are long gone. Then she says that I'm welcome to have it if I want to use it. So of course I say I'll take it. Well I get home and notice that it feels to heavy to be empty... So I google picking a suitcase lock... And presto it's open. Much to my surprise and excitement it's a Dan Wesson 357 mag with four barrel set!!!! Wow what could be cooler than finding a gun untouched for 25 years that was forgotten plus it was my grandpas!!!

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

, so you know you have a 15-2, these are the most common of the Dan's. What a score and I can tell your Grandfather had great tastes in his guns.
Missing from the pac:
Check under the foam!
Barrel Wrench (buy one from EWK, the best out here)
extra grip
extra sights, white and yellow
all of the above 9except for grip) maybe under the foam, plus the paper work.
Hope you hang around! Enjoy the Ole Dan, you will love the handling of this one!

Welcome to the forum, I have read many great and interesting ways that people acquired a Dan Wesson, yours might be the coolest yet! You have a great pistol. And I think Harly is right, those smooth walnut grips are not seen often, most are checkered. Now blow the cobwebs out and take it to the range!

Thats a heart warming story. While "things" don't add to a persons value, a persons passion can linger in thier things. When the next generation discovers our passion for these things, it carries the memory of us along with it. At least I hope that is true, I plan on leaving all my guns to my children, just as many were left to me.

My second comment on this, because I have strong feelings about this. This gun/Pack was not lost, it was waiting for you and it found you. My first gun survived the "sell off" of everything else over the years, welcomed my awakening interest in shooting, and was freely given to my son in trust that it is a family heirloom
Maybe the first picture of a gun I ever took, certainly the first gun I ever owned.

To add a little to the story my grandpa loved his guns and hunting and has passed it down, though I'm am the only grand kid how regularly shoots and hunts. My dad got most of the other guns from grandpa including (m1 carbine, marlin 336 30-30, Ithaca flues 12ga, colt 1908 pocket hammerless, Ithaca saddle gun, sears Roebuck 22lr bolt action, old Winchester pump.) but beleive it or not my gramps had three Dan Wesson revolvers, the one I found, a 22 with 6 inch barrel and another pistol pack that has six or seven barrels. My dad has had the larger pistol pack of his for years and it was the first revolver I ever shot. The barrels from that pack include all the same sizes as mine but also has two longer ones, one is a 10 inch and there is also a 12inch(Or may be 15) and the largest one has a scope mounted to it. After looking at the serial numbers reference here on the site my set looks to be from circa 77 or 78 . I'll report back on how it shoots when I get it to the range this weekend.
Thanks for the warm welcome!

What impresses me the most is the restraint shown to actually GOOGLE picking a suitcase lock!!! I fear the little boy on Xmas morning would have gotten the better of me and it would have one my classic "I don't need no stinkin instructions"! It would have been quick, but not pretty.
Judging by the list, your Grandpa certainly had a nice eye when it came to firearms.
Good for you!
