It seems like anytime I look for one thing, I find 5 other things instead. Â Recently bought a new 4.25" Python and it is a fun gun that sits and feels great in hand.
I decided the Python needs a buddy as my K frames aren't up to the task. Â That started me down memory lane to the late '70's early '80's when I bought a 6" heavy barrel model (15-2?) and enjoyed the heck out of it. Â I played fast and loose with guns back then, and it eventually passed along to a coworker.
After some online sleuthing, I found my old buddy and plan to contact him to see if he still has it and is willing to sell it back to me. Â I know he bought it in Sept 1980. Â No idea what I originally paid, or what it sold for.
Does anyone remember what they sold for back then? Â I'm willing to offer him a fair price, but need some help deciding what a fair price is today. Â If it doesn't work out, I'll be looking for a 4" 15-2 VH as that is the perfect size for me.

I bought mine in 1979 for $189 then turned around and brought it back and bought a pistol pac instead I believe it was $325 for a VH barrel set (now sells for around $2000) . Of course you will not find one now for that a good condition 15-2 depending on barrel size and if its a heavy vent (bull barrel) $650 to $900 You can find some banged up ones for under $600 good luck maybe your friend will give you friend price.Â

A wholesaler would offer you up to $350 for it. Â
And then ask more than double to sell it, right?
I tried to call my friend today, but the number is disconnected. Â Not looking good for my old Dan to come home.
Â
Not a ton of 4" VH guns up at GunBroker. Â I'll have to be patient and that is not what I'm known for.
