Hi, guys. Just now found you over here. Thought I'd make my first post as informative as possible.
I bought a Model 14-2 with a 6V barrel at a gun show not too long ago. It grouped well but shot about a foot low at 25 yards. I knew there were two front sight heights, a .300" and a .250". Mine was a .300" so I called Dan Wesson in NY and ordered a .250". After installation it shot 6 inches low at 25 yards.
I called Dan Wesson again and they said that all they had was .250" & .300" sights. Finally they transferred me to a guy in the back who said there was a "blank" sight available. No colored insert and you had to file it to fit your particular needs. I bought one and found that the Model 14-2 requires a front sight height of .200". I occasionally see Model 14-2's for sale with colored sight inserts and I know now that people are buying them and installing them because they want the colored insert, but are unaware that they've changed where their point of impact. Apparently, the Model 14-2's never came with colored sight inserts. I'm guessing that after the sight changeover they become dissillusioned with how the gun shoots and trade it or put it up for sale.
So... if you have the same problem I did then you probably need to order a blank front sight and file it to fit in order to get the gun to shoot to point of aim.

I have a couple of sets of extra sights with the colored inserts, one set is approx 0.250" while the other is approx 0.300".
I also have some Patridge type sights with no inserts from Dan Wesson Arms which catalog as follows:
Part No Height Width
PS-1 .285" .123"
PS-2 .275" .100"
PS-3 .250" .100"
PS-4 .225" .100"
And I have one similar to the PS-4 in dimensions but shaped as a straight ramp. Note that PS-2 through PS-4 are recommended to be used with a 0.080" opening in the rear notch. I have been unable to date to acquire a rear notch in anything other than 0.125".
I frequently see barrels for sale, usually 2-1/2", listed as being for a "Dan Wesson 15-2" but which do not have a colored insert in the sight but do have a very low front sight and to me that is a giveaway that this is a shroud from a Model 14.

I've had my Dan Wesson 15-2 Target model .357 for around 30 years. I originally purchased it for Police Pistol competition. Changed the rear sights out and replaced them with Behlert. The front sight was always blackened for shooting. The Original front sights were the perfect height for this. I tried to get Partridge sights for them, but kept failing. Well, 30 years later, I'm trying again. I pulled one of my signts and it conforms to the PS1 specifications. Since my height is adjustable, will a PS2 fit and not wobble in the front sight location due to the width difference?
Would appreciate a response,

My knowledge is not all-inclusive, but from what I have seen all sight variability in terms of height and/or width occur on the top half of the front sight blade. The bottom portion that actually affixes to the barrel is the same for all sights I have seen thus far.
I have two sight blades myself that are different widths but they are both dimensionally identical where the blade fits into the barrel slot. Not definitive but it's the best I can do. Perhaps someone else more knowledgeable will chime in to speak with authority.
