Ok, I have a 744 vh with 8" and 4" barrels. I shoot mostly cast slugs in the 25-300 grain range and all is well with the 8" barrel. I have to adjust the rear sight almost all the way down but it is useable.
The problem is that the front sight is the same hight for the 4" barrel and with the rear sight screwed all the way down it is still shooting 8" or so high at 25 yards.
I need a taller front sight. Does anyone know where I can get one or do I have to weld up the original and file down to suit?
Thanks

Great! How do I contact him?
After checking my 4" cut down Ruger I had to weld that sight up so that it was 3/8" tall from the original 1/4"
I Am thinking the Dan Wesson needs a 3/8" tall front sight too.. that would at least put me in the ball park.
Wishful thinking maybe but I would like to have the front sight on the 4" high enough so that I could file it and have it work with the same rear sight settings as my 8" barrel with it's shorter 1/4" (.250) front sight with the same loads.

The DW/CZ parts list shows 6 Patridge fronts ranging in height up to .350"

Also, Millet made a taller front sight for DW's that stood quite tall and can sometimes be found for sale on ebay and Gun Broker.
You can send a PM to geminiman. The PM function will allow you to search the membership list by entering the first 3 letters of his screen name
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks guys but....
CZ has only the .250 sight left and very few of them these days. I have no clue as how to contact the geminiman that is why I keep asking "how do I contact him?"
I just bit the bullet and got out the mig welder and welded up the front sight to about .365 and shot it with gunkote. That should get me in the ballpark.
