New to the forum and Dan Wesson so please forgive and miss steps.
After years of searching for my white whale, I finally this week purchased my first Dan Wesson, a 741 6VH.
It came with the Pachmayr target grips and while functional they leave something to be desired aesthetically.
All I can find online are old Packmayr and Dan Wesson original wood grips second hand or new Hogues. I have and like Hogue finger groves on a Smith but am looking for more options.
Is there anyone else making large frame grips?
LB appears to be retired.
Thanks, JC

Welcome from Texas!
Hogue is your most reliable option. The have lots to choose from in woods and designs.
LB did/does his grips as a "passion", not a money-maker. If you were able to get one, you are blessed.
I spent 14 months trying and failing with various google-searched, so-called custom grip makers.
Many wood factory target grips show up on eBay regularly. Look for the ones that are being auctioned rather than those with a price. If you are very lucky you will find a BIN in great condition for a reasonable choice. There are factory finger groove grips also. You want round hole large frame grips. Most will be smooth, not checkered, because they mitigate recoil as they slide in your hand. Some of the combat grips may have some checkering.
The top of the line are the zebra wood target grips. There are also extremely rare Rosewood with Pewter medallions if you are lucky. They were made for the first 500 44 Magnums. Eagle also made some nice finger groove and target grips for large frame guns.

After contacting the first two pages of "custom grip makers" on google, I went with custom order Hogue rosewood with grip cap and stripe. They let me pick the wood grain from a lot of raw blanks.
Before and after pics attached.
Very happy with the end result.
Clear skies, JC
