Thanks, yes from what I understand they are a Zebra Wood. App. what time frame are they from?
Also I picked these up at a local show over the weekend for 6.00. Guy just had em laying there with a question mark on them. He did not know what they were for of course. I am referring to the ones mounted on the frame of course.
Are they original Dan Wessons? Aftermarket? If original, what time frame also and what was this style called? They fit pretty decent.
Thanks again. The Zebra is a wide base checkered with DWA medallions. I would place them around 1976. Maybe 77. Serial number before 170,000 or so. Before then they had no medallions . Later they became slimmer and with DW medallions . Still later, maybe 1980 or 81 they were sanded very smooth.
The other grip is a factory service style grip. Similar to a S&W Magna or Ruger grip. Because it has no medallions I would place it 1975 or earlier. If it has three grooves down the back strap it may be a High Standard grip but they usually have medallions. Very nice snag on both.
Snake-eye, you have caught far more egregious errors I have made. You and Stinger are correct about walnut grips. They are pushing $75 if new in the box but 50 is reasonable.. That is up about 50 percent or more from a couple of years ago. Sacramento grips too are appreciating. I think folks building packs want time correct grips.
