I recently acquired a DW .22 4" blued. It came with a very nice set of DW logo "target" grips, actually two sets and a set of finger groove "combat" grips. Nice as they are, I'm not a big fan of the "target" style wood grips, but would like something more than Hogue or Pachmayr.

I've look at the LB grips and they're nice. Are there any other exotic wood grip makers out there for DW revolvers? If you have a .22, what do you use?

The only "one-off" custom DW grip maker out there is LB.  If you want individual custom, he's your one and only option.  The most common on the .22's is the standard walnut target grip.  Hogue has plenty of exotic wood options with with butt caps, accent stripes, checkering, and different finger grooves.  The hogue custom wood grips are a nice option and should not be underestimated.

Sounds like you are looking for a couple of different things:

Exotic Wood? LB will make a grip out of pretty much any chunk of wood you send him, but it won't happen on your timetable, it will happen when he can make it work in in his timetable. Lawrence does DW grips out of his love for the brand, not to make $$$, and it is most certainly a part time/hobby avocation for him

How about taking a Target grip, reconfiguring it to be a great fit for your use, doing some refinishing, and have exactly what you want?

Or do a Custom order with Hogue, they make some gorgeous grips, and you will eventually get whatever they let you order.

On the 22/722 I use either a Target Grip, which is my personal favorite, or a Pachmayr Gripper.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I would agree with Steve. The Target grip feels, handles and fleshes out the small frames much better.

For packing/sd w/ a 2" BA the small wood grip or rubber would suit the purpose but when that BA is replaced so would the grip.

Endeavor to persevere,
Press on regardless.

To be honest, I'm not sure what I'm looking for, Steve.

1. I like exotic wood grips. Hogue and Pachmayr are certainly serviceable and very business like but I do like exotic wood.

2. There is an aesthetic within the context of functionality, which balances the size and shape of the grip with the size of the gun. Some grips seem way out of balance and seem to almost dwarf the gun.

3. I understand the time it takes and have waited for good grips before. It seems most of the grip makers and holster makers out there just can't really make a living at it and work part-time out of their love for guns and the hope of making it a living.

I'll keep with the target for now and see how it works for me.

I acquired a Model 22 - VH4 a short while ago, which came with a set of dark colored target grips on it. While the original DW grips were indeed quite serviceable, I installed a set of Hogue exotic hardwood (Pau Ferro in my case) grips I got off eBay, and they feel exponentially better in my hand... and are nothing short of GORGEOUS to boot! drool They made a whole new gun out of it!   Most assuredly worth consideration. goodluck

Hello Thin man and welcome to the forum. I'm just telling this group is gonna want cool-pics.
