Newbie here, Could someone explain the timeline if there is one between the different styles of medallions in the grip ie, no medallion, dwa, dw etc.

Thanks in advance

This is what I have been able to decipher about the Dan Wesson grip medallions. Anyone, please jump in and correct me if I'm mistaken.

Early pork chops came with just plain wood, then some later ones had a small silver colored (plastic) medallion with just a W showing (this probably includes the 15-1 which was only made in 1974). About the time the 15-2 came along (1975) the medallion was larger and had DWA lettering. Sometime around 1979/1980 the medallion was changed to the familiar DW lettering.

Somewhere in there was the "power wood" grips which were molded plastic grips that closely resembled wood. Not sure of the medallion (some were just plain I think), but I suspect they were the small silver W ones.

Well, that's a start anyhow.

I believe 3ric nailed it. Or as close as we can get anyhow.

My early 22 and 44 came with brass colored DW.  My 15 came with the "plastic" grips and silver medallions.

I replaced all grips with factory options, Sacramento on small frames and Combat on the 44.  None of these have medallions.

Powerwood grips were sold from 73 to 74 I think or when they ran out of them. They were not well received. The models 14-1and 15-1 were also branded High Standard. They had the HS logo medallions. Palmer medallions were gold colored plastic instead of brass..
