Well I mentioned to my Wife "I think I'll buy myself a gun for my birthday" (65 years young thank you). And she said "OK"!

Madison WI Gunshow and the only Dan Wession is a .44 VH6.

This appears to have been shot very little.

Shot very little but it has been dropped and has a rear sight that is bent, the grip can be trimmed and refinished. It has the ported barrel (ARGH!)

I'm going to look for some ammo now. Wish I had some used brass, that would be easier.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Happy Birthday! and Congrats on the DW. You can pick up a non-ported barrel from Eric at EWK, and you might check out a fiber optic rear sight from Williams.

A very nice birthday gift! Snake-eye is right just get a new barrel tube from EWK. You might be able to get a new rear sight directly from Norwich or find a used one on Ebay.

And we need some cool-pics

Thanks for the replys, last I checked EWK was out of stock on the barrels, I will get the wrench though. Still not sure yet on how to disassemble the sight. I don't have a pin punch that small.

Guess I'll have to be content to just enjoy the RECOIL.

Pic's to follow.

Mount a scope and you won't need the rear sight and it will help those 65 YO eyes.

That is a nice birthday present. I also have a DW that was dropped and bent the rear sight, but it has since been replaced.

OK! Progress report on the bent rear sight.

The rear sight was removed by punching out the roll pin and the elevation screw was removed. The sight base was visibly bent at the weakest point, which is the hole in the base for the elevation screw. I mounted the sight base in a vise and administered some force with a hammer and an aluminum drift and I wasn't shy it took some force to straighten. Re-installation of roll pin and elevation screw and TaDa. Well only I know it's still a little bent. I have a box of ammo and will see if I can shoot a .44 Mag this weekend.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday, indeed! Just think how much fun you will have generating "used brass".

To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:

if you find one...what's your plan?
