My friend that I traded my Model 14-2 with 2.5" barrel for a Kimber .45 now wants to add adjustable sites to it. Has anyone had this done? What did it run? He got a 6 inch barrel for it and now he thinks he needs the adjustable sights. He probably should have got a 15-2, but he's been lusting after my 14-2 every since I showed it to him. It is a nice pistol, probably 95% or better. I told him I'd ask around and see if anyone had that done and what it cost them.
I bought another model 14-2 for open carry cause I didn't want the adjustable sites in case it got dropped or whatever when I was open carrying out on the farm. Probably should have kept the one I had, but my friend was so in love with it that I broke down and took the Kimber, which ended up being good for both of us. A 1000 dollar pistol for one I had a couple hundred in sounded like a good deal to me, and I love my 1911's, and the Kimber is a real nice shooter, unfortunately it has the external ejector which has caused problems in the past.
Heres a pic of the one I traded away. The picture doesnt really do it justice, it looks a lot better in person.

That would be straight up custom machining and re-bluing, along with the cost of a rear adjustable sight. DW specific rear adjustables are pretty unavailable and hard to find, but for a custom installation, many options would exist.
IMHO-he's destroying the intrinsic value of a DW that can't be replaced to make it into a "not 15-2".
Bad idea.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

We have pics on here somewhere of a fixed sight DW that was converted to adj sights... It was a long time ago...
I agree with everybody else; big investment for little return. Just buy a 15-2 and save yourself the headache. If it was a good idea, I would have already done it .
