o.k. my dan wesson 41 is not as accurate as i think it should be o.k.so i sluged the barrel and it is .4100 and i sluged the cylinder throats they are .4090 so im thinking i need to ream the throats to .4110 if im going to shoot cast .411 bullets is there anything else i need to tell the gunsmith to look for and what should it cost to get a good job done and am i on the right track thanks very much

If your measurements are accurate, then your logic is correct for shooting cast bullets. Although the major reasoning behind the smaller bore (than throat) diameter has more to do with leading.
If your reload, try jacketed bullets and adjust loads until you find what you are looking for. You can also adjust barrel gap and tension- so there is a lot to play with before you try reaming the throats.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Greetings
Bought my first caliber .41 in 1982. It can be a tack driver.
What is barrel condition ? Is the barrel Loose ? What is barrel gap ?
Have you tried a gas checked bullet (Boolit some places ) ?
And finally have you tried any jacketed things ?
Most accurate jacketed load I found with my DW caliber .41 8 inch was a 210 Sierra with 21.2 grains of 296, Win brass and Fed mag primer. This was not a max load in my caliber .41 but may be in all others. Have shot under 3 inch groups with this load at 100 yards.
That stated I have shot several gas checked water dropped WW bullets with 296 that come close to the Sierra accuracy.. but not quit. My 6 inch barrel will not do as well. But close. My 10 inch barrel again is close. I set all my barre gaps "very close". I set the barrel nut tight but do not try to break the wrench. I do all my accuracy shooting from the Creedmore position.
If you are going to shoot cast then I would get the throats reamed. I would want .0005 over sized throats. .001 is OK. There are several outfits that advertise this service and have very good reputations and turn around times. I personally would not give my DW cylinder to just any Smith. If the Smith has a good reputation then that is fine... But I would want that info up front. A new DW cylinder is $135.
I do not see great accuracy till velocity passes 1100 fps. The slow DW twist is the culprit. But for cast it is very good. One day i would like to try a gain twist in the 10 inch shroud. I will keep bugging Eric at EWK to make Just One run of fast twist barrels. I want one of every length. Those would be sweet with 265 + grainers.

the barrel is nice its tight the gap is .005 i think i might try your load and see how she does i have been shooting xtreme 210 jacked 17.4g of aa#9 ww super and remington brass with cci large pistol primers no 300 id have to find my date but i think 1200fps was the rating for my load and good god i cant seem to keep it within a 12 in group at 50 yards
