Hi folks, hoping someone can help me identify the model number, barrel, and grip on this one.
It's a .357. Barrel is 2.5" long.
From poking around on the forum here, I think it might be a Model 14? (Or 14-2 or 714...)
And it might be a heavy barrel?
Is there a name for the grip?
Any other info would be appreciated too. Thanks!

I think your conclusion is correct. Due to the fixed rear site and the barrel ending perpendicular to the frame I do believe it is a model 14-2. A 714 would be stainless steel. On a model 14 there would be a "Texas Pan Handle" shaped extension to the bottom of the barrel shroud that extends to meet the bottom of the frame just above the trigger guard. Like this:
The 2.5" heavy barrel shroud on my 744 has a blunt end at the muzzle. I believe the model 14-2 heavy barrels are the same. That little taper at the end of your barrel would make it NOT a heavy barrel. There is really no advantage to a 2.5" heavy barrel. That little taper on the bottom side of your barrel is going to make no difference as far as accuracy and the weight difference would be inconsequentially minor. Personally I like the looks of that little taper on your barrel, I think it makes the gun look a little more refined.

It looks to be in fine shape. Most 14-2s have a matte finish but some from mid 80s, serial number over 300,000 can be found with the Bright, polished finish yours has. You have the appropriate undercover grip in fine condition. If you have no box or tool I would value it in the 400 to 500 range. Towards the latter because of the attractive finish. It may sell for up to 100 more as prices have risen recently.
