The High Standard MK II and MK III were made for about 2½ years by Dan Wesson. Here's an informative thread made not so long ago, as we all learned about this unique chapter in DW's history...

Here's a comparison shot I took of mine, a while back. On the left is a DW Model 14, on the right is a HS MK II.
The HS guns were available in the same three barrels lengths as DW's but (as of today) I'm pretty sure there wasn't a Pistol Pac version offered. So far I've seen two grip sizes available & two different medallions used...metal & plastic. The plastic ones seem to be the most common by far.

That depends on you. Speaking only for myself, I bought the pair I have because I'm a collector & owning some examples from DW's involvement with HS really appeals to me.
I don't expect them to ever be worth a whole lot in dollar value, instead I value them merely for the cool factor...maybe other collectors will too, I don't know. Currently, most of them seem to be valued between $250 & 375, so if you can get one cheap, go for it! If for no other reason than it will be fun at the range.

If that's the case, then it isn't a Mk II or III. High Standard also made other "Mark" revolvers, that didn't involve Dan Wesson. The others were .22 LR & .22 Mag.
If the shroud doesn't look like this & has .357 rollmarked on it, then it's something else.
From what we know so far, DW's involvement with HS ended in late '75, when DW retooled for the 15-2 guns.
