I know in the history of this "fine" website the story of the HS Sentinel MK II and III Models have been kicked around. I failed to locate the thread concerning these two DW Models. Today, I added to my modest DW collection, a 5th DW Model. This is the High Standard Sentinel MK III in blue steel with the 3.75" barrel. It has the adjustable sights common to this model with the wood target HS Grips. The barrel appears to be fixed and with Hogue finger-groove black rubber grips I plan to put on as I'm heading to the range for a test-drive. The serial number is H25376 and the price was a horse trade with a friend who coveted my Taurus Model 65 (4"bbl., nickel), an old style Taurus with a half-shrouded barrel. He wanted mine, I wanted his! The best kind of trade possible; He was happy and I was too. I "will" be sending pics in as soon, as I struggle to get to 20 with my shoes off, my computer skills is compromised terribly. I have word that my benevolent son will be helping his old Daddy as soon as he is able to get over. I look forward to sharing, through pics, my DW 11, 14-1, 14-2, 15-2 6VH, and now my Sentinel MK III.

What is the history and story of the High Standard MK III?

Why did HS get DW to build the Model 14 & 15 with HS markings?

Was the manufacturing years from 1974-76?

Were all the Sentinel MK II and MK III barrels "fixed" and non-removable?

Thanks-in-advance-my-friends!

Congratulations on an exciting new addition! I am sure Charger Fan or one of the other Pork experts can fill you in on HS Sentinels more than I can. I am not sure if anybody knows why HS sold Sentinels built on Dan Wesson models, probably to explore a pistol market that they did not have a design of their own to use.

Not all Sentinel barrels were non-removable, My MK2 has a normal removable barrel. Hope you can post some pics, I would like to see how your barrel looks at the bore, we would love to see your collection too!

Welcome to the HS owners sub forumlol2 I just picked one up last weekend, and as Lonewolf93 said, my MKIII has a removable barrel.  Uses the same nut that my 15-2 uses.  I used the tools from the 15 to take the HS apart to clean it.  Mine shoots GREAT, love it!  Check out my thread in the resources section on downloading a manual for your gun, I found a site that has scans of the origional manual and parts lists.

Congrats!  Looking foreward to those pics.

Wow, that's an excellent swap, way to go!!occasion

Here is the –>LINK<– to the High Standard affiliation with DW. Mind you, that link starts off early (in DWF time), as for most of us at the time, the learning curve on this subject was more of a spike!lol2 surprised  By page 2, we had some major education, and for me, well I was hooked & my feelers were out there big time for a pair of suitable candidates for the 'ol CF collection. I landed a nice MK II almost immediately (total fluke), but waited for months before a MK III came along. Okay, enough of the "me & my" here, and onto David's find!laugh

I've got to say honestly, that I have never seen an "in captivity" fixed barrel HS MK II/III gun. I know they were advertised as such (I have a magazine article that talks about it & shows a barrel shot), but I have yet to see one, so I have almost written the FB HS off as possibly an early advertising blurb, that was completely erroneous. Maybe even an early prototype sort of thing.

David, I would really love to see somecool-pics of one in captivity, just to know that they do exist. I'm patient, really. Whenever you can work it out on your end, is fine by me.smile

Let me know if you have questions other than what's covered in that HS link & I'll try my best to answer. And just in case there's a risk of someone posting a…post-pics…in this thread, I'll post up! (sorry, more "me & my") Here's my 6" MK III…

Image Enlarger

Here's my pair, the MK II is wearing a 4" barrel. The rest of the ensemble is merely because…well…I like to build warm places for my guns to hibernate.embarassed Yep, I'm a true freak.screwy

Charger Fan I'm so very sorry for the lack of pics at this point. I'm even more sorry for the (2nd time) Thread ain't worth a dime without pics NOTICE. My entire working career as a cop (40+ now, but whose counting?) has been maintained through being honest and struggling to do what is right by law, even though a couple of awful moments I may have lost my way. But for the most part I have honored the age old traditions of being a true Knight to those in need or in danger and being honest in the words that I speak or write.  I am one of GOD's "least-talented" servants! But HIS servant, I am!

I am working towards getting these pics, even more so now, posted so my words (threads) are no longer worthless to some!

Respectfully……………..Davidsmile

ChargerFan that is a BEAUTIFUL pack and the two Sentinals look like they just rolled off the assembly line.  cool-pics  I wish my HS was in that nice a shape.
Has anybody run across any HS barrel assemblies in their travels?  I guess DW porkchops would fit, but wouldn't match the HS roll mark.  I'd love to have a 6" BA on my HS, maybe I'll pick up a DW porkchop and just mix and match for now.

David, your threads are certainly not worthless, I hope you never have that impression. You're not the only one here who is challenged when it comes to posting photos on the internet, things like that just come easier to some than it does to others. Just like hitting bullseyes probably comes easier to you, than it does me.laugh

No rush on the pics, we can be patient. Let me know if I can help on my end, with any pointers & I'll be glad to do so.

Scorpio, I've only seen one HS barrel assembly for sale so far & someone else beat me to it. cry You're right, you can use a DW Porkchop one on it just fine. Oh, and thanks!laugh

Thanks a ton Charger Fan! Until my ability to post pics comes along I would be more than honored to send you some pictures taken from the old tried and true camera to your address or post office box. I want more than anything to please my friends here at this fine website and if you are able to post from these sent pics it would be my honor to accept your kind offer of help.

I know that a picture is "worth-a-thousand-words" and the fine members of this website deserve this small request, so if you can provide assistance with this an old po-po would be indebted!

This would just be something short and sweet on my part sir! In uniforms past and present with "beloved" 11 posing pretty! The other brothers in the form of 14-1, 14-2, 15-2 and now the above would be included.  If unable, Charger Fan, no problems here either. I "will" be posting one way or the other for the fine folks here who are "most" deserving!

Respectfully & Sincerely.....................Davidsmile

David, I too am computer challenged and 72 years old.  My stepson is a geek and works for Dell repairing computers.  He has taught me how to post pictures on the forum but I can't remember from one time to the next how so I wrote down step by step instructions.  If you would like a copy of these instructions send me an email and I will send them to you.

When I post a picture on the forum I actually work up a sweat and am exhausted by the time the task is complete.  For months after joining this forum I wanted to post a picture and became completely frustrated.  Now I just whip out my idiot sheet and post away.    goodluck

Hoss, you might want to send Dave your email in a PM.

This forum topic is in public view and is not one of the members only

sections.

Sadly there is "Evil " software out there that searches the open

Internet for email addresses. Some of it is to Ad spam or to gather

and profile, others are used for much worse. None of it is any good

if you get it on your computer.

David, I'll sent you a PM with my address. My scanner has been on the fritz lately, but this will be a good time to take the 'ol broken-computer to it & get it working again.lol2
