Hey guys there a High Standard .357 revolver on arms list for $300 and i might pick it up. But the only reason I'm interested is because it was made by Dan Wesson. I've wanted one but they are expensive so when I saw this I thought about it and if it was made by them then it's a great deal right? Can't tell if it's fixed or adjustable sights and haven't gotten a response yet but fixed would equal the Dan wesson 14 right? And last question is this a good price?
Thanks,
Colton

My HS Sentinel MK III is one of my favorite shooters because it is SO accurate. Do a search on my post "fun evening at the range" and you'll get an idea what I mean.
If the gun you are looking at is in good shape, grab it and head to the range and you too will be very happy.

Barrel tubes would not be too bad, I think you could use model 14/15 barrels. Not sure on the length though, I'll have to measure. Shrouds would be much more difficult to come by. I've only seen one HS BA and it didn't sell cheap. A DW porkchop should fit, but it will say Dan Wesson on it in stead of HS, and they aren't super plentiful either, but they do come up on ebay and Gunbroker now and then.

Better luck next time, HS. Welcome to the forum anyway, stick around and check out other threads for pics and info etc. Maybe the right pistol will come your way in the future.

The barrels are 1/8" shorter than a 15-2, otherwise they will interchange just fine. Same goes with the flush-nut 14, 14-1, 15 & 15-1 Porkchops.
High Standard, the .357 HS Sentinel models are a MKII & MKIII. The II is like a 14-1, with fixed rear sights cut into the top strap of the frame & matte blued finish. The III is like a 15-1, with adjustable rear sights & gloss blue finish.
Here's a couple shots of mine, a MKII...
Here it is next to a DW 14 (not a 14-1)...
Here's a MKIII with a 6" barrel.
The action on these guns is just like a 15-2, from what I can tell & they shoot really nice. If you are able to land one at some point, I'm sure you'll be pleased.

I have a 714-2 with 2 1/2 inch bbl. I have a 15-2 with the 6 inch bbl. I recently (Dec. 2012) won a High Standard Sentinel Mk II. It was listed as 4 inch bbl, but it is actually only 3 3/4 inches. If you get an additional barrel, you'll probably need the shroud, too. Other than that, it looks like a model 14 "Pork Chop". It shoots every bit as good as the "real" D.W.s. ...better than me.The above price is about what I paid. $273 plus shipping. ($293 total).
I am a happy camper.
Happiness is a warm Dan Wesson and those small groups.
