So I got the Hogue wood grips off Amazon for a pretty good price. They fit well and look great!
I also ordered the black rubber grips but teh dingbats had teh package labeled wrong - they were for a Redhawk.
In the second pic note the top vent has been drilled for scope rings. Kind of an odd pattern and I was wondering if someone could tell me what kind of rings fit or what red dots fit on the barrel. There's one screw that doesn't sit flush - puzzled as it has steel wool under it. Can't wait for teh wrench to get here so I can get the shroud off and take a peek.

Sounds like a PO buggered the threads and put steel wool in there to try to keep things tight? Anyway- it's easy to fix if those screws are proud (or use longer screws) - use permanent thread locker (red Loctite) and after it's cured, peen the heads down and file even with the top of the rib. Bead blast the rib with 80# glass bead and you're all repaired...
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Actually it doesn't seem teh threads are buggered at all. Surprised me too. No idea why teh steel wool is in there.
Puzzled as to the scope ring pattern - they don't look aligned.
What do folks normally use for scope rings on these?
Fine looking gun. Perhaps the 3 holes gives you an option on two types of scope mounts using 2 holes. I would remove the steel wool. Steel wool should never be used on stainless guns microscopic particles can become imbedded in the stainless and as the carbon steel rusts it introduces corrosion to the stainless. Black pits can develop from using steel wool on a stainless gun. Ron, thanks for the tip on filling a D&T hole.
