I just picked up a 44VH8 and am looking for a holster.  I've had Bianchi 5BHLs before for other guns and liked them and see that they offer one for "Dan Wesson, Ruger Redhawk 7 1/2" barrel".  I'm unsure if this would work with an 8" DW, what kind of rigs are you guys using for your 8" DWs?

my hunting rigs are Bandolier types...especially for the 8" barrel.  I have this holster (not sure if it is same brand), and mine is excellent.

Mine is very well made and scoped setup.  Keeps your gun right in front.  And I put a speedloader pouch on the strap, just in case.

The DW barrel length is really barrel length. An 8" DW would be similar to the 7 1/2" listed for another revolver, that is about what the shroud length would be

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I just got a cross draw holsetr from this maker for the 445VH8 revolver and it fits great.  They do many custom holsters.  Not the cheapest but from what I see, they are top quality

Thanks for the link, I think cross draw or shoulder draw is the way to go with a barrel this long.  Strong side hip holsters worked okay with previous 6-6 1/2" guns but I don't think they would be ideal with an 8".
