Well, after about 8 weeks of waiting from a backorder, I finally got my holster. I ordered it from http://www.opticsplanet.com because they were about $20 cheaper than every where else I could find it on the internet. They didn't state that it was backordered online, which was irritating...I was only notified after the fact, but decided to wait it out and see if they could come through with the order.
The exact model is the Safariland 568 Custom Fit for Revolvers Holster - STX Plain Black, Right Hand 568-09-411. I paid just over $45 for it, including shipping!
For a relatively inexpensive hoster, I am really impressed with Safariland's quality of construction. The fit is great and super adjustable. After a little tweaking of the adjustment screws, my 715 fits perfect, with just enough tension to keep it where it needs to be. The plan for this holster is to shoot IDPA, and for packing around the woods. I have no doubt that it will be great for both of these purposes.

One feature I haven't seen often...it has a belt catch on the inside of the paddle that keeps it really secure on your hip when drawing. Nice touch.
Plenty of adjustment with all those screws. The suede isn't top of the line but does the job, feels plenty durable, and looks good.
The paddle is thin molded plastic. I like the size, just enough surface area and curvature to be secure but not so much that it is cumbersome or feels heavy on the belt. Its very comfortable...honestly probably the most comfortable holster I've ever carried with a heavy gun. It holds the gun tight to your hip and side, and could be used for CCW under a jacket fairly easily.
I'll keep you posted about how it handles after I've put some rounds downrange with it on my hip. From what I've seen so far, it looks like $45 well spent.

That is a nice holster. Is it fully lined? Not so much of a factor for SS models, but a real plus on blued models, and a good price (although I agree Optics Planet is a PITA to deal with, I finally cancelled and order with them at Christmas).
Looking forward to hearing what your field experience is with that one
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Great report! Thanks!
Real nice looking holster and probably exactly what I am looking for as well.
Only one question: Is the cant adjustable?
Historical note: CDF and I were looking at all the original paperwork that came in the box with his mint W12. There was a Safariland brochure provided by Dan Wesson with a ton of different holster choices / options. It looks like Safariland has had a relationship with Dan Wesson from the "git go".

The cant is adjustable, but it is kind of goofy. The paddle itself is not adjustable, but it comes with a plastic disc that you can insert in between the the paddle and the holster. The disc has a series of holes on it that you can line up for different cants, I think there is three settings.
The disc has belt slots on it as wel...so you have the option of using the holster as a traditional belt type without the paddle, which is pretty slick.
I'll get some pics of it tomorrow if I can find my camera...

Well, it looks like I lied to you guys. I don't think the cant is adjustable with the paddle, unless the thing is out-smarting me.
There is all the stuff that the holster came with. Paddle, plastic belt disc, and the hardware to make it all work. I thought that you must be able to mount the plastic belt disc in between the paddle and the holster...but no luck. Looks like you only get the adjustable cant with the belt disc.
There it is at the steepest angle. You can see how you have the three options. I'm not sure I will ever use it like this honestly...the paddle just works too well to mess with the belt.
