Have Model 14-2 with 6" barrel which I want to use for some local competitive shooting games (not official IDPA stuff).  Looking for a tactical style holster.  Yeah I know, "good luck."  Have heard SP101 and Colt Python holsters will work for the Model 14 or 15.  True?  If so, would the below Fobus work? Since the barrel area is open it should accommodate a longer barrel, I would think. Anybody know of any other solutions out there?  Thanks!

A Python holster probably will, a SP101 not likely. However a GP100 is similar in size and may work. You will probably need to find a LGS that will let you try some out for fit, if you have such a store in your area. Good luck.

I don't know how well this will apply to a 14-2 as I have a 15-2, but most 686/Python holsters do not work well with the 15-2's  heavy barrel underlug. It's just a lot more "square" than the round versions as on the 686 & python.

Now if you're god with wet-blocking, &/or spooning, then most of the leather models for the 686/python will work after a little kitchen sink gunsmiffin'.cool

If you don't have the full length underlug any python/686 6" one should work.

Update.  Safariland 527-09-61 stealth holster fits excellent.  This is a "one size fits many" pancake holster for Python, King Cobra, GP100, Security 6, etc.
