Before anyone jumps on me to suggest I search the forum, I already have.  This isn't the usual holster info request as I know most K-frame holsters may fit.

Purpose:  IDPA matches

Pistol: DW 15-2, refinished in matte bluing (Cylinder and Slide)

Holster preference:  Kydex that is not a Blackhawk Serpa or a Fobus as neither of those will work.  I have yet to hear back from Blade Tech as to if they have anything that will work.

That said, if anyone has a nice leather option I might be open to that as well since it will put less marring on the matte bluing...not that it matters because once it gets marred enough it's getting stripped and Duracoat will be applied.  Jaw Dropping

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I guess I should have been a bit more specific on this.

Per IDPA rulebook there can be no muzzle-forward cant (FBI cant, which is muzzle rearward is ok), no open front holsters ie..speed holsters like in the 1st reply (thanks though).

And if I go leather I need enough clearance between the grip and the holster to get my hand around the entire grip, not impede the middle finger from getting around it.

I shoot IDPA with a 15-2. I'm using a Blade-Tech Stingray Belt Holster. It is IDPA approved. Mine is for the S&W 686 and works very well. The 686 cylinder is a little larger but the tension is adjustable so it has worked well for me. You could probably use the one made for the model 66 also. It is listed under OWB holsters on the Blade-Tech site. Hope this helps. What part of Mo. are you from. I shoot in the St. Louis area. If you're close by you can try my holster to see if you like it! jwk

Alright. Now we're talking! StingRay

I'm down in Springfield, so I don't get up that way very much.  Closest I tend to get is Rolla due to family in Licking.  Won't be anywhere near you for a while...match this weekend doesn't help either.

What's the barrel length you're using so I can order the StingRay. Part number would be appreciated if you have it available. I've eyeballed those for my Glock 34 as well. Just haven't picked one up yet.

Look to be quite the nice hugger if you're used to the Blackhawk Serpa. It might even convince me to pick one up for the 34.

I have a 4" vented heavy barrel  with a fiber optic site on mine. I looked up the receipt for the holster and it has a Code of: S&W 686 (up to 5in) In the description it just says ADJ STINGRAY BELT HOLSTER.  Hope this helps! I also just got my cylinder holes chamferred. I'll probably go to practice tomorrow afternoon and try it out. Initial impressions from speedloader reloading with dummy rounds at home is positive. jwk

Thanks much.  I'll order mine tomorrow.  This is quite reassuring to hear so I have the kydex option for my Classifier.  I certainly do not think I'll be logging a lot of revolver time IDPA-wise as I'm just not that good at opening the DW cylinders just yet.

I have only owned DW revolvers (with the exception of an unfortunate Taurus episode) so I only know one way to handle the reload, and I don't shoot any competition. If you're having trouble getting the cylinder open, some cleaning, smoothing of the latch area, and a spring change might help. I do think the DW design would have benefitted from a larger and more user friendly cylinder latch.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Yep, the more you do it the faster it gets. I actually prefer the DW cylinder latch to the others. Shooting the revolver in IDPA is a kick. Sometimes it's good to be different. I love when people ask me what model Smith I'm shooting as if that's the only brand worthy of competition. Long live the DW revolver!

Ah....another victim of TP...the Taurus Plague.  I had the misfortune of having a PT145 when they were having problems (like that ever stopped) and it took 17 weeks and a legal threat from a prosecutor to get a check from them.  17 weeks and they hadn't even opened the box.

My issue with the cylinder latch is that my brain is conditioned to a rear latch that's thumb operated.  Performed properly and with the right grip installed, the DW should be quite fast as it's a proper reloading grip (left hand fingers through the open cylinder well, thumb on the plunger).  I just have to get used to strong hand reloading, which is opposite from semi-auto reloading.

Guess it should just make me that much faster at weak hand reloads and I'm already pretty quick with semi-autos, but a wheel is going to be that different thing to recondition myself to.

Fight like you train!
