This kind of depends on your intended use. I rarely use holsters, but the few I own are from DeSantis. They seem to be a good balance of quality and reasonable price. My local gun shops always have a decent selection, Amazon has at least five pages of holster offerings, and Cabela's also carries a good selection in store and online.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

As the size and weight don't intimidate me, I intend on carrying it, whether concealed or not, I currently am using a shoulder holster but I also would like something I can draw from the hip. I know holsters can be tricky so i wasnt sure if there were any specific reccomendations

As Ole Dog states, holsters designed for a Python work and so do those for S&W 586/686. You will likely find a better selection that way than shopping based on a Dan. I tend to compromise on a 4" BA for strong side hip carry as that works well when seated. With a 6" BA I prefer a cross draw but that's a personal thing so to each their own choice!

I bought the Wife a chest rig for her S&W 329 from Diamond D Leather, Wasilla, AK. It's really a nice holster. While there I asked about getting holsters from them for DWs. We were talking about 44VH. She suggested I bring the gun in and they'd check out what they had in molds so the fit would work right. I've checked their web site and they list fits for both DW small and large frames in "half" lug and full lug. I really like the looks of their leather hip holsters.
I recently talked with a guy at a craft fair that made Kydex holsters. Looked pretty nice (for plastic)! He said if he had my gun he could mold the holster to fit. I can't find his pen, but thought he was out of Palmer, AK. I see there is a Kydex holster maker in ANC called Frost Modular??? OR You might be able to get someone local to you to make one of these custom for you.
