Good stuff, pretty accurate.
I managed to pop a 10" tall piece of railroad track standing on end at around 250yds with about 70% of the rounds I fired. I'm pretty sure it was completely by accident.
On a completely unrelated note, my trucks toolbox makes an awesome hasty firing support.
Hope is not a course of action

Greetings Guys,
Great thread here! I've been trying to collect some info on using the LeveRevolutions in my .44 on several boards, but haven't had many well-informed replies. Good to see some folks with some real-life experience with them.
I like to hunt wild boar, and so far have only used a .30-30 with LeveRevolution ammo. I've dropped every pig I've shot at so far, DRT. I've got a real urge to go after some hogs with my 8" DW .44, and since I've been SO happy with the LeveRevolution ammo in my .30-30, I thought it might be a good choice for the .44 Mag. I've mostly gotten naysayer comments like, "I doubt it'd work very well in a pistol" or "It's designed for an 18" barrel, so it wouldn't expand out of a handgun", but no solid info from anyone with any experience.
Wonder if any of you guys can comment on the expansion, penetration, etc. of the LeveRevolution out of a revolver? Any of you hunted with one? If it's true that they won't develop enough velocity to expand, I guess I'd be just as well off with a JSP, but I'd sure like to hear any informed opinions! I have little doubt I could put a round right through a pig's ear at 100 yards, but would be interested in what to expect in terms of terminal ballistics.
All comments appreciated!
Regards,
Jim

The rounds I fired from my 8" in. DW expanded well. The idea behind the plastic cone is expansion at any velocity. I have only goofed around with them at short ranges shooting off hand but am just about to try them w/ a newly scoped barrel. I think hogs would be no problem w/ what I have seen so far. GJ44

Hornady is advertising the FTX bullet as a rifle and handgun ammunition. Posted
velocity/energy from their site for a 7.5in barrel is : Muzzle- 1410/993
http://www.hornady.com/store/44-Mag-225-gr-FTX-LEVERevolution/
This is little stouter than most 240grn loads and plenty of energy to take game
out to 100yrds. with a handgun.
My bro-in-law is taking my DW44 with these FTX hornady's for the Ohio deer
gun season in a few weeks. I will let you know how they perform.
Last week I brought up a discussion about HP ammo getting clogged by
clothing or animal hide and penatrating/performing like a full metal jacketed
bullet. I believe this design may remedy that problem.

Great information here, guys! Thanks for the comments.
I'm sold now on trying the LeveRevolutions in my DW on a pig hunt sometime soon. I'll be looking forward to hearing more from you guys in the meantime. It might be a while until I get a chance to go after my next hog.
Blacktop - Please post about your BIL's results on the deer hunt!
Best regards,
Jim

Ok Jim,
Finished up our second Ohio season ( we have a week long, two week break and then
a two day ) After finally giving up chasing an almost record 10 point my son missed
in bow season, I settled down and put some meat in the freezer. Both were button
bucks weighting in at 90lb and 120lb hung. I used the 44 DW with the Hornady
FTX 225grn ammo and it worked beautifully ! Smaller deer came out just under
my 50yrd mark with a quarter to me shot, then ran towards me and gave a
second broadside follow up and went down on the spot. Bullet just missed left shoulder
(left if your facing deer) passed through ribs and exited rear right ham , exit hole
was the size of a 20 ga slug, I could not see where this bullet had contacted any
bone but yet it seemed to expand and perform as a HP should.
On the second larger deer I was given a just inside 70yrd broadside slight quarter
away shot, bullet exited through opposite far shoulder, deer dropped instantly.
Exit hole looked like a 12ga slug had been used. So to wrap it up I would totally
recommend this ammo on any medium size game and this is what I'll be using
until the next great thing comes along. Also a note on trajectory, with this fast
225grn bullet there is only a 3in drop from muzzle to 75yrds. Sight in at 1 1/2 in
high at 50yrds and your good to go.
