Possibly looking to pick up a 4" 22LR revolver for the GF to shoot. Was looking at the Smith & Wesson 617, but with a street price of 700 and change, it is a little bit of a turn-off.
Thought it might be cool to have a 22LR D.W. to go with my 3" 715-FB (in 357) I have, and would be a cool way to save a couple bucks.
However, I haven't seen many around. I am not looking for a pistol pack, and would like the heavy barrel version, in 4". How common are these guns?
Thanks!

The .22's are out there, there have been alot lately on GB. To get one in "mint" might be a bit more challenging, they are around I'm sure, but most I have seen have indicated some use, seems to be that way with .22's. The most common BA on them is the 6" likely followed by 8" You might search a bit for a VH4" that suits you.

SMF has got it right - they're out there but asking prices seem to be a bit high right now. How about a ruger SP101 in .22? It's a new model that came out this year and seems to be a nice gun.

I have looked at the SP-101's, however I think it is not pretty by any stretch of the imagination
The S&W 617 is very pretty, as are the heavy barreled D.W.'s, thats why I was looking into those 2. Would love an old diamondback, however that's more money than the 617!

There was a nice 4" (V, not VH) Model 22 available someplace near you. Comes with an 8" VH also, 3 grips, barrel tool for $499. Not mint, but very clean, solid, and really good condition.
WAS available
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Here's the gun you want, and I can probably hook you up with a 4 in. barrel!

I assume when you said it was for your GF, you mean Girlfriend and not Grandfather. If its for a girlfriend and she is of medium to small frame, the DW .22 is on the same frame as the .357 magnum. And it weighs more than the .357 because the bore diameter is smaller. More metal. And to a woman with a small or medium frame it can be a rather large gun to handle. But if its for Grandfather go for it. He will love it. I would.

Yes, I meant Girlfriend. The 617 I handled, with the stock plastic S&W grips, were a little small for my hands, but would probably fit her perfectly (her hands are a little smaller than mine).
Since she has shot other center-fire revolvers before and liked them, I am gonna load up my 715 with light, 38 Special target loads and let her loose with that and see how she does.
Thanks all for the input
