My life long LE brother in law has labeled me obsessive- compulsive for buying multiple NIB Dan Wessons. He calls them relics rejected by law inforcement while he owns several Kimbers that I pointed out were "relics" themselves as were the new Marlin 336's he wants to spend several thousand dollars on each to customize. Am I being to harsh on him. I told him that twenty years ago would spending $600 each on a bunch of new pythons have been obsessive? I am kinda feeling badgered and need some moral support from like minded people. Is sixteen Dans in two years including several pristine Pistol packs and other NIB Dans like a Gold Series and a .45LC a silly waste of money? I told him that some people could just not figure out how to screw a barrel into a frame. Give me some arguments to present to him that support my DWAS as the actions of a reasonable person.

Rejected by Law Enforcement?
Given the relative shooting competence of LE's that I talk to (mostly CT State Police, or Hartford, CT), that is a nonsense statement. They are OK with what they carry (M&P's or Sig's), and don't have a lot of choices.
In my discussions with about a dozen of these guys, they are not shooters, their weapons are tools that they need to be competent with, and they recognize that their sidearms are for personal protection while they do their job.
If the DW comment relates to on the job, any police officer that carries a revolver is a candidate for a body bag, and very few PD's will allow a 1911.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

No truer statement ever was Steve. Same in here in Shelbyville.
Ole Dog, you are an ill individual.... We think your just fine the way you are. Take your BIL to the range and put one them relics in his hand for a round or two..

Seems many to the law offices didn't like the ability to change the barrel! Salesmen for the others S&W and such were good at pushing what they sell! Heck 16 us a few number, to bad you couldn't show him they were selling for a few years.
Maybe he just jones'n for a pac so he can be as cool as you are! Dave A can share how to carry a DW!
Some of us have seen the light, others are still waiting for the light to change!

You are not OCD at least not compared to me and others on this forum :). Take him to the range along with the largest supermag you own and some Buffalo Bore rounds for it and hand it to him. Let him run a few cylinders of that and see what he thinks. Ask him how they feel compared to his wimpy 40 slow and weak side arm. Tell him that since you only have six rounds instead of 10+, you want to be sure to neutralize the target with the fewest number of rounds possible.
I love my revolvers, they are a thing of engineering beauty. The quality of an all metal gun has character and personality. I seriously doubt that in 20-30 years folks will be collecting and cherishing their black plastic wonder pistols the way we do our revolvers. JMHO

Thanks guys for your reassuring words. I feel completely normal now. I didn't bid on a single gun today. But I will do better tomorrow. By the way, I do aquire other guns. I have become very fond of 22 mag H+R revolvers and I am waiting for an unfired High Standard Crusader 44 mag to be delivered. I will not shoot it but will take the side plate off to study it. That will give me my fourth H.S. . Sentinels mk ii , iii , and iv. Of course two are Dan Wessons and shooters. Still can't make myself buy a Smiff. If you start collecting them you do have a problem.

Life is short. Do what pleases you. As long as you are taking care of business, you get to do what makes you happy and satisfied. One man's treasure is another man's relic; one man's obsession is another man's joy. Just tell him to clean his own house.
