I saw a Dan Wesson D-11 yesterday at a Houston gun shop. From others on this forum it seems that the barrel is fixed. I had an original impression that the barrel nut was on backwards but I have learned that some early DWs came with a fixed barrel and a barrel nut torqued on tight. This is a .38 Special pork chop in blue with a 4” barrel.

You must not have read my post regarding the early design with an external barrel nut that does not sit flush inside the shroud, which this is one.

I looked at the barrel nut closely and there is no way to engage a barrel wrench. The nut is absolutely smooth with no notches. I would never do it but it looks like the only way you could get this nut off would be vice grips.

Okay, then there is your answer ... fixed barrel.
